macOS Mojave brings new features inspired by its most powerful users but has been designed for everyone.
The ‘Dark Mode’ feature helps you to stay focused on work and ‘Stacks’ will assist with automatic file organisation. You will also notice that the Mac App Store has been redesigned and there are now four new built-in apps.
Dark Mode puts the focus on your work while toolbars, menus, and controls recede into the background. It’s integrated throughout macOS so it works with built-in apps, and third-party apps can adopt it, too. The desktop picture changes to match the time of day, wherever you are.
With Stacks, your Mac automatically arranges all the files on your desktop into neat groups based on file type, date, or tag so you can get better organised.
Browse files at a glance with the large previews in Gallery View, view full file metadata, and perform Quick Actions like rotate or markup.
Mark up and sign PDFs, rotate and crop images, and even trim audio and video files right in Quick Look—without launching an app.
Taking, annotating, sending, and saving screenshots is easier than ever. Just press Shift-Command-5 to bring up new onscreen controls, including video-recording tools.
Take a photo of an object or scan a document near your Mac using your iPhone, and the image automatically appears on your desktop.
With Group FaceTime, you can chat with up to 32 people simultaneously—more than ever before. New participants can be added at any time, and a call can include both audio and video callers. And users can join from any Apple device—iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch.
Mac App Store
Find the perfect app on the newly redesigned Mac App Store by using the new Discover, Work, Play, and Develop tabs. You can also learn more through stories, video previews, and curated collections.
Privacy and security
Now macOS Mojave requests permission when an app wants to access your Mac camera, microphone, or sensitive data. Prevent comment widgets and Like and Share buttons from tracking you without your permission with enhanced Intelligent Tracking Prevention in Safari. And don’t worry about getting “fingerprinted”—Safari gives websites a simplified system profile of your Mac.
Use the Home app to easily and securely control all your HomeKit accessories on your Mac—whether you’re at home, in the office, or traveling the globe. You can even control your home accessories using Siri.
Now you can use the popular iPhone recording app on your Mac, too. You can record audio on your iPhone, and with iCloud support it automatically syncs so you can listen to it on your Mac.
